Are you a Survivor or Thriver?

There are certain life questions that when you have enough time for reflection, you can find yourself contemplating:
Are you on the path to your life purpose?

  • Why am I here?
  • What do I have to contribute that will make a difference?
  • What do I value and believe in?
  • Who do I serve?
  • What expectations do they have of me?
  • What do I offer that meets those expectations?

How you answer these questions can show if you are in a survival state or thriving, getting the most out of your life. Thrivers are those people who:
  • Constantly reinvent themselves
  • Are mentally agile and willing to risk
  • Love life and live it to the full
  • Accept joy and pain as part of the game

There are some distinct differences between survivors and thrivers:

You may instantly recognise which column you're sitting in at the moment. Is it where you want to be?

Thrivers go out to live their life purpose. They want to make a difference. They're not happy with the status quo. They want to contribute more.

The more cyncial survivors may look at this and think "It's okay for them. They don't have my restraints / obstacles / hardships (read, excuses)". Here's the thing, it's not always an easy journey for the Thrivers. They simply find a way over or around their roadblocks. They don't allow obstacles to get in their way, emotionally or otherwise.

If you choose to be curious around your life mission, to live your purpose, you will most likely encounter some interesting
  • Resistance
  • Synchronicity
There’s a difference between giving in and giving up. Commitment is doing it despite the obstacles. You WILL encounter resistance along the path to purpose. Don't get discouraged, don't allow yourself to become a victim. Pick yourself up and get on with it. Do things a different way. Find a mentor you can learn from. Get a coach who will drive you. But persist!

And if you persist you will often be rewarded with the most amazing synchronicity. Things you didn't notice before become blindingly obvious. Opportunities open up and you recognise them when they do. Coincidences occur. When you are eager and willing the Gods join in.

From time to time, it's worth asking yourself: Am I surviving or thriving? To thrive, follow your purpose, expect the resistance, enjoy the synchronicities. And most of all, enjoy the journey.
